It was a huge shock to many a Brightonian when Local Legend and Professional Tosspot, Boogaloo Stu announced that Dynamite Boogaloo at the Joint will be no more! Of course Boogers let the panic set in before his subsequent announcement that it was actually to move to a new home from January.
"There are lots of rumours
as to why the move has happened
so to put the record straight,
they're all true. "

There are lots of rumours as to why the move has happened so to put the record straight, they're all true. The Joint is no longer The Joint, having been sold to new owners a while back. They're currently converting it and renaming it 'Crave'.

But there were earlier rumblings from the talent before the namechange. Detournement Deejay Bobby Love was unceremoniously unplugged during one of his sets so that a Best of R'n'B CD could be put on instead, which obviously didn't go down too well. According to eye-witnesses an angry riot ensued, but we're told that no-one was hurt by any of the artists' lyrics on this occasion.

Next there was the decision to cover up the Joint's unique colourscheme (!) with garish shades of apricot and orange. Obviously this was going to clash with every garment Stu owned and may well have caused travel sickness for the punters. Over all there have been lots of changes and there are more to come that may further affect our enjoyment of Dynamite Boogaloo. Stu evidently had no choice but to move on before Crave becomes West Street's latest all-night diner - check out their burger menu!

Boogaloo starts again on the 20th of January 2005 at Audio and it's certain to be a Dynamite relaunch.

If, like me, your life is without meaning until then you can catch Stu in C'est Barbican at... at the Barbican, where he covers the audience in ponchos before pleasuring himself all over them. But if you can't get hold of a ticket and you're thinking of resorting to crime to cure your Thursday night boredom (yes, it is a crime to rummage through the binbags outside Oxfam to find your next garish outfit for the relaunch party), we have collated some of our favourite Boogaloo moments for you to enjoy. By the way, the infamous photo of Superoo's bits is being saved for his 21st, so don't bother hunting for that one.

These, together with Jamie Normans story on The Last Ever Boogaloo, with Boogaloo Stu at the Joint you can now spend the next few Thursday nights reflecting on the good times and preparing for the relaunch party. See you there!

That's all folks! It's over. Finito. The curtain is drawn and the lights are dimmed. The stage is dismantled and replaced with a bolsawood DJ booth. The walls are painted peach and Dolly Rocket packs away her wigs (she wears wigs?!)...
