Cabaret Night...
review A night of song and laughter was in store at the Joogleberry Playhouse all in order to raise cash for Pride. Hosted by Dame Margot Hamilton and The Queen's Arms Andy B, the night was a range of more serious and very comical songs from artists on the London and Brighton cabaret circuit. The first act of the evening was Julia John, singing songs with a brilliant reception from the audience. The tearful 'Send in the Clowns' was tempered with the altogethermore risqué 'Bring on the Men'. One of the highlights of the evening followed, as Dame Margot joined Julia in a duelling duet with both of them playing cats, miowing away. An excellent crowd-pleaser! The second act was Chris Marshall and Biddy, again singing a range of songs (in fact I've never heard of quite such a selection) following David Bowie's 'Ashes to Ashes' with a song entitled 'Where does Robinson Crusoe go with Friday on a Saturday night?'. After a few more much-needed drinks at the interval (it was hot down there!) a further act was the singer/songwriter Helen Shepherd. Helen serenaded us with her jazz band to a warm reception. Another successful evening and with the knowledge that all benefits were going to Pride made it even more enjoyable.
